Birmingham Knowledge Quarter partners explore further investment

A new partnership has been announced to explore investment opportunities at Birmingham Knowledge Quarter, one of the principal sites in the West Midlands Investment Zone.

The announcement on 22 October 2025 confirmed that development partner Woodbourne Group had begun working with Hines, an international real estate investment manager. The partners indicated that the arrangement could lead to investment of up to £400 million in the wider development.

Birmingham Knowledge Quarter is intended to bring research, businesses and related facilities together in an innovation district. Its place within the Investment Zone is designed to support growth in advanced manufacturing, digital technology and health-related industries.

The proposed investment would contribute to longer-term plans for commercial space and associated development in the area. It also illustrates how public Investment Zone support is intended to help attract private partners to major sites.

The potential investment should not be described as fully committed or spent. The announcement concerned a partnership and future opportunities, with actual funding and construction subject to subsequent decisions.
