East Midlands Investment Zone gains government approval

The East Midlands Investment Zone has received government approval, establishing a programme focused on advanced manufacturing and green industries in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The approval was confirmed alongside the Autumn Budget on 30 October 2024. The proposed Investment Zone has a ten-year funding envelope of up to £160 million, with a combination of targeted investment and tax incentives to support the growth of high-potential industrial clusters.

Three principal sites were identified for the programme. These are Infinity Park in Derby, Hartington Staveley near Chesterfield and Explore Park in Worksop. The locations are intended to attract industrial investment, provide space for businesses and strengthen relationships between employers and research organisations.

The programme is expected to support new jobs, skills and infrastructure, while also funding activities that benefit businesses across the wider region.

Government approval establishes the Investment Zone framework. Decisions about individual investments, site preparation and business support will determine the pace at which projects move from planning into delivery.
