Glasgow City Region has opened a call for project proposals to help shape its Investment Zone, inviting eligible businesses to put forward plans that could support regional innovation and economic growth.
The call was announced on 9 January 2024 as the region developed its programme with the UK and Scottish governments. It followed the selection of Glasgow City Region as one of Scotland's Investment Zone areas in 2023.
The invitation initially focused on businesses in life sciences, advanced manufacturing and precision engineering, and digital and enabling technologies. Proposals were expected to set out the intended outcomes, delivery arrangements and the availability of match funding.
Applicants were asked to provide at least 60 per cent of project funding, with the remaining support potentially provided through public funding or available Investment Zone incentives. The deadline for applications was 31 March 2024.
The open call was an early stage of programme development rather than an announcement of approved projects. Proposals would be assessed before forming part of the region's final submission to the governments.
