Greater Manchester approves second-year Investment Zone funding

Greater Manchester Combined Authority has approved the allocation of Investment Zone funding for the 2025/26 financial year, continuing support for projects in advanced manufacturing and materials.

The decision provides for approximately £17.76 million to be distributed across agreed projects. The funding includes capital and revenue support, reflecting the programme's mix of development infrastructure, innovation facilities and business assistance.

Supported activity includes work on the Sister innovation district in Manchester, advanced materials facilities at Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford, and development of the Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing Centre at Kingsway in Rochdale.

The allocations also cover work associated with Atom Valley, business investment, supply chain development and skills programmes. Greater Manchester's Investment Zone was developed with government and local universities, with individual allocations being released in annual instalments.

The annual funding decision identifies work that can proceed during 2025/26. It also provides a useful reference point for following individual projects as they report infrastructure, research or business outputs.
