North East Combined Authority has considered funding for infrastructure needed to open up the next phase of NETPark, the science and technology development in Sedgefield, County Durham.
A delegated decision report dated 7 February 2025 seeks approval to provide up to £11.26 million of Investment Zone support for NETPark Phase 3a. The funding is intended to enable the roads, utility connections and ground preparation needed to make additional development plots usable.
Durham County Council is leading the work and expects the infrastructure to unlock three future buildings, including space intended for an inward investor. The programme forms part of the Investment Zone's wider focus on advanced manufacturing and green industries across the North East.
The report explains that infrastructure investment is necessary before private development can move ahead. It identifies anticipated wider benefits for businesses, employment and supply chains.
This is a proposed allocation associated with a decision process. The report itself should not be treated as evidence that the entire phase of development was completed in February 2025.
