South Yorkshire approves £500,000 Investment Zone award for manufacturing project

South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority has confirmed approval of £500,000 in Investment Zone funding for Project Arc Transit at Welding Alloys.

The decision was published on 10 February 2026, following consideration of the project's business justification case by the Investment Board earlier in the month. It was made under delegated authority established to approve Investment Zone applications of up to £500,000.

South Yorkshire's Investment Zone focuses on advanced manufacturing and is intended to encourage investment, industrial innovation and employment across the region. Individual funding decisions such as this form part of the programme's move from initial designation towards supporting specific activity.

The published decision records approval of the funding award. It does not provide sufficient information to establish the project's eventual outputs, commercial impact or employment outcomes, which will depend on subsequent implementation and reporting.

The award is one instance of the Investment Zone moving from programme design to support for an identifiable manufacturing project. Its practical contribution will depend on the work completed with that funding.
