West Midlands backs £7 million for Wolverhampton innovation sites

West Midlands Combined Authority has approved £7 million of Investment Zone funding to prepare four brownfield sites for development in Wolverhampton's Green Innovation Corridor.

The decision was announced on 11 December 2025 following a meeting of the Investment Zone Board. The sites, known collectively as Six Mile Green, are located near the University of Wolverhampton Science Park.

The funding is intended to help make the land ready for potential investors. Future development could provide space for businesses in clean technologies, sustainable construction, cyber security and green manufacturing.

Regional partners expect the sites to support up to 600 jobs and apprenticeships when fully developed. That figure is a forecast based on the intended use of the land rather than employment already created.

The decision forms part of the Investment Zone's wider approach to improving development sites and attracting industrial investment. Remediation, infrastructure preparation and occupation by employers remain the next steps in translating the allocation into practical results.
