West Midlands launches Investment Zone manufacturing support programme

West Midlands Combined Authority has introduced a business support programme intended to help manufacturers enter new supply chains and develop products for growing industrial markets.

The Supply Chain Transition programme was announced on 9 October 2025 and forms part of the West Midlands Investment Zone offer. It is backed by £12.5 million of government funding and will provide practical help and financial support to eligible firms in the region.

The programme is designed to help established businesses identify opportunities in areas including advanced engineering, battery technology, clean energy and healthcare manufacturing. Support can include specialist advice, technical assistance and measures intended to encourage research and development.

The Combined Authority expects the initiative to improve the ability of smaller manufacturers to adapt to changing markets and compete for new orders.

The programme opens an application route for manufacturers seeking support. Participation and the results of supported projects, rather than the launch alone, will indicate its contribution to business innovation and growth.
